[TOP 4] Best Support Characters – Genshin Impact

4 Best Support Characters - Genshin Impact

While playing Genshin Impact you’re going to come across a lot of cool and interesting characters. Some of these will invariably end up being a part of your character roster and a few lucky ones will become a part of the parties that you take into the Spiral Abyss.

Out of all of the roles that you’ll want to be filled in the game, one of the most important ones will be that of a support role.

Why Use A Support Character in Genshin Impact?

Support characters are those that enable your other party members to be as effective as possible. They help out your damage dealers to be as devastating as possible, they bump up the elemental mastery of your elemental characters, or they buff the healing done by your healer.

They may not play an active role in your party but they are essential if you want a balanced team that can handle any challenge that the game throws your way. Here is a list of a few support characters that you can rely on while dealing with World Level 4 and above.

Genshin Impact

Bennet

Bennet is one of four Pyro characters and is one of the two that isn’t a 5-star. He is a sword wielder which makes him seem like a damage dealer but in fact, he is an exceptional support character.

There is one caveat though, to be an S class support character he needs to have the first constellation active because that insanely buffs his Elemental Burst. His Elemental Skill is also pretty good because charging it up fully can get you out of tough situations.

Bennet’s Inspiration Field is the most important part of his support repertoire though because it heals characters that are standing in it if their health is lower than 70%.

Not only that, but the field also increases the damage that those characters do. That makes his field one of the most amazing abilities that you should get your hands on as fast as possible.

Weapons

Bennet’s Elemental Burst scales with both his HP and his base attack, which means that any weapon that you equip on him should either buff the perks that are generated because of the Elemental Burst or it should recharge the ability faster so that you can use it more frequently.

One of the few weapons that fit that category is the ‘Favonius Sword’ which creates elemental orbs when scoring a crit. This will allow you to recharge his Elemental Burst way faster than normal and make him an excellent support unit.

Artifacts

The two sets that you need to look out for when building up Bennet are the Noblesse Oblige and Exile sets. Noblesse Oblige’s set bonuses buff the damage boosts that you get from an Elemental Burst whereas the Exile set focuses on increasing the recharge of elemental abilities.

If you want Bennet to just spam buffs then the Exile set is the way to go and it can work wonders in long fights Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Support Characters

Venti

Ah, Venti. Venti is one of the most sought after characters in the game and his rarity is what makes him even more appealing. Venti was only available for a short time and after his banner was gone so were the chances for getting him Genshin Impact.

He is one of the few characters in the game that you can’t get from normal wishes but there is so much demand from the player base for Venti that it seems inevitable that Venti will be reintroduced to the wish pool Genshin Impact.

Speaking strictly for myself, as proud as I was to pull Venti I do wish they would reintroduce him because of his constellation.

There isn’t any way to build his constellations up and even then he is an S tier character in all aspects.

The most special thing about him is that he can fit in any role that you want to assign him to. I use Venti as an elemental support and it is amazing how quickly I can wipe out entire squads of hilichurls Genshin Impact.

His elemental burst whips up a tornado that sucks in all enemies and his elemental skill knocks them up Genshin Impact. Both of these aspects make him very viable as a support because you can keep on stun-locking enemies and finishing them off at your own pace.

There are many ways that you could build Venti but the most effective way is to make him so that you can just spam his skills and switch off of him Genshin Impact. Once you get him to level 70 you’ll want to do that even more because you’ll get more energy back when using his skills.

Weapons

Venti is a bow-wielding character and there are 2 bows that are really good with him. The first is the Favonius Warbow which buffs Energy Recharge as a passive Genshin Impact. Its active skill is that crits have a chance to generate elemental energy which is used to recharge Elemental Bursts.

The other weapon is called The Stringless which buffs Elemental Mastery as a passive. Its active perk is that it increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst damage. The second one is quite frankly, amazing because it can make him do tons of damage even as a support.

Artifacts

Just like with Bennet, you can use the Noblesse Oblige or the Exile set to make Venti extremely powerful. Both of these will increase his ability to support your team with elemental skills but there is also a third option for Venti.

You could grind out the Viridescent Venerer set which increases Anemo damage as a 2-piece set bonus but the 4-piece set bonus is where this set shines.

Firstly, it increases Swirl damage which is when Anemo reacts with other elements. It bumps that up by 60% but that is not all, it also decreases the opponent’s resistance to the element that triggers the Swirl by 40%.

That effect lasts for 10 seconds which means that not only are you going to do more damage but the enemies are going to take more damage.

Diona - Genshin Impact

Diona

Diona is not a new character if you’ve ever been to Mondstadt. She is the bartender that is present at the Cat’s Tail inn and actually has really cool lore. She is a Cryo bow user and is one of the most promising supports to come to the game.

She hasn’t been ranked yet but I would say that she is at least an A-tier, maybe higher.

Diona focuses on healing but also has several aspects that make her more of a total support rather than just a healer. Her Elemental skill allows her to create a shield that absorbs damage.

The amount of damage that they can absorb is based on the max HP that Diona has. That skill itself is extremely useful and will come in handy when fighting bosses that do a lot of damage. Damage absorption isn’t the only thing she’s good for.

Once you ascend her once, the shield will also apply a 10% movement speed increase and a 10% reduction in stamina consumption.

Her Elemental Burst is no less exceptional because it creates a field that will damage enemies continuously and at ascension level 4 will also reduce their attack by 10%. The field of ice will also heal you and the healing that it does is based on her max HP.

Weapons

It’s hard to determine which bow would be good for Diona but something like the Favonius Warbow wouldn’t be shabby at all because it will allow her to recharge her abilities faster.

She is best suited to using charged shots instead of normal attacks which makes the Favonius Warbow perfect for her.

You could also use something like The Stringless or the Sacrificial Bow because both of them compliment her playstyle and could be very powerful in her hands.

Artifacts

Diona’s main ability scales with her HP so it makes sense to build her with max HP in mind. That means that you should put on artifacts that increase her HP percentage which will make her abilities better and do more healing.

That will also buff the shield that she creates which will allow you to take more damage before the shield breaks.

As for the sets that are good for her, Noblesse Oblige and Exile sets work because you’ll want to focus on the elemental aspect.

If you intend to use her as a support then you should keep in mind that the shield will be your most-used ability and anything that you can do to buff that will help you a lot.

One thing to take note of though is that she is a very new character, released only a few days ago, so information about what the best build for her is is scarce. I’ve described the build I’m using for her but it may be subject to change based on what we learn about her abilities and passives.

Best Support Characters - Genshin Impact

Traveler

Traveler is another one of the all-rounder characters that can fit in any role you choose for them except for healer(for now anyways). Keeping that in mind it is very easy to build the Traveler as a support because chances are that you’ve already been building them up so upgrading them won’t be an issue.

The Traveler can attune to both Anemo and Geo so you can use them as support with either of the elements. I would recommend Anemo though because of a few reasons.

The first reason is that the Anemo Elemental Burst is great for clearing out groups of enemies and making sure nothing gets too close for comfort.

Secondly, being Anemo, her skills can react with other elements to produce amazing results whereas if you were to use her as a Geo character you wouldn’t be able to trigger as many damaging reactions.

You could use them as a Geo if you want a character that can regularly provide you with a shield but if that is the only criteria then you should be using Noelle because she scales extremely well as a support.

Weapons

The weapon that you could use for the Traveler is the Favonius Sword which you can make pretty easily. It has a chance to give you elemental energy when you score a crit and that can be really useful if you want to spam her skills.

You could also use the Iron Sting because that increases the damage that you do after you trigger an elemental reaction. That sword should only be used when using the Traveler as Anemo because otherwise, it won’t trigger the sword’s unique ability.

Artifacts

Just like for the other supports in this list you can use the Exile or Noblesse Oblige sets with the Traveler because it buffs her abilities. You could also use the Viridescent Venerer set for them when they are attuned to Anemo because that will increase the damage that they do.

As for the base stats that you’re looking for, for the artifacts, you’re going to want to focus primarily on Elemental Recharge and Elemental Mastery. Those two things will be amazing for the Traveller and will give you the ability to spam their abilities with ease.

Conclusion

There are other support characters in the game such as Sucrose and Mona but the reason I didn’t mention them is because Sucrose is a little tricky to build and Mona is a 5-star and I didn’t want you to feel restricted by the hard-to-get characters so I tried to include characters that are easier to get.

Keep in mind though that there are more characters than this in the game and if you don’t have any of them don’t lose hope. You could just as easily use Noelle as support because although building her up takes time, she can excel as a support unit.
